MISSION
To design, build, operate and maintain the premier equestrian facility in
the Northwest serving the recreational, competitive and educational needs of
riders and horse enthusiasts in all disciplines, age groups and skill
levels. The venue will accommodate large horse events and cater to smaller,
less formal activities. In addition to providing new opportunities for
those involved in equine sports, the Horse Park also will stimulate
Washington’s economy by creating jobs, increasing demand for goods and
services and attracting new tourism.
STRATEGY
The Authority will achieve its mission by striving to adhere to the
following methods of operation in building and operating the Horse Park:
- Construct and maintain safe, efficient, flexible and cost-effective facilities that present a harmonious and appealing design appropriate for a first-class venue.
- Develop facilities in stages based upon (1) available funding, (2) opportunity to generate operating revenue and (3) promotional appeal.
- Generate support from all stakeholders and return benefits to each, specifically regional horse enthusiasts and related businesses, State taxpayers and the local community.
- Maximize cost-effectiveness by utilizing volunteers, competitive bidding, in-kind services and other economies whenever feasible.
- Seek to involve informed representatives from all major equine disciplines to ensure their needs and concerns are met.
- Specifically define methods to promote and cater to youth and therapeutic riding programs.
- Preserve the site’s natural beauty to the fullest extent reasonable during initial construction and subsequent development.
- Provide ongoing communication with and services to stakeholders, especially through face-to-face dialog and a robust web-presence.
